Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Tilak Marapana, visited Oslo for a conference
on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (Ending Sexual and Gender based Violence in
Humanitarian Crisis). He was accompanied the Conference by Ms. Dhammika Semasinghe, Acting Director General of Europe
and Central Asia Division at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the
Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Norway, Arusha Cooray and Second Secretary, Ms.
The Minister participated in the High-level panel, “Setting
the standards for Prevention of and response to SGBV Progress in addressing
operational challenges,” led by UNFPAs Ms. Natalie Kanem. The
Minister also held bilateral meetings with the Minister
of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Hon. Ine Eriksen Søreide and Minister of Foreign
Affairs of Hungary, Hon. Péter Szijjártó. During
his visit to Oslo, the Hon. Minister Marapana met with Sri Lankan faith and
community leaders as well.
