Shipment from Norway to Easter carnage Victims of Sri Lanka

13-07-2020

The Embassy cordinated a relief effort with the Community and “Caritas” in sending a container full of goods in June 2019 to those affected by the Easter Sunday attacks which took place in April 2019.

Ambassador H.E. Godfrey Cooray had taken initiative and highlighted the “Caritas” the importance of distributing goods to the deserving people who have affected from the Easter carnage. Also, there had been a discussion between the Ambassador and His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and the Secretary to the Cardinal Fr. Denintons in this regard.

Accordingly, H.E. the Ambassador has requested a detail report from Caritas with images as it is needed the donors to know whether the goods have been delivered to the needy people.

As a result of that, the Embassy received images from Caritas of distributing the goods for the deserving victims of the Easter Carnage.

H.E. the Ambassador would like to extend his sincere appreciation to the donors of the Sri Lankan Community in Norway and all the Norwegian donors who have given support to make the relief effort success.
